Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Usage and Maintenance Guide
1.Precautions for use
Correct selection and load matching
Select a UPS of appropriate capacity according to the power of the equipment (the recommended load power is ≤70% of the rated power of the UPS).
Avoid connecting high-starting power equipment such as laser printers and air conditioners to prevent instantaneous overload.
Installation environment requirements
Temperature: Maintain 10℃~25℃ (optimal temperature for lead-acid batteries) and avoid direct sunlight.
Ventilation and dustproof: Keep away from humid and dusty environments, and reserve at least 10cm of heat dissipation space.
Keep away from interference sources: Avoid sharing circuits with large motors and transformers.
Battery management
First use: Charge for more than 12 hours before putting it into operation.
Regular discharge: Disconnect the AC power every 2~3 months, discharge to 50% and then recharge.
Avoid frequent switching: Reduce the number of AC/battery mode switches to prevent battery loss
2.Maintenance points
Regular inspection and cleaning
Monthly inspection : Battery appearance (bulge, leakage), whether the terminal is oxidized or loose.
Quarterly cleaning : Wipe the body with a dry cloth, and use compressed air to clean the dust on the fan/heat dissipation hole.
Functional test and calibration
Self-test : Press the self-test button on the UPS panel to confirm that the indicator light/buzzer is normal.
Simulated power outage : Disconnect the mains power every quarter to verify the switching time (should be <10ms) and backup battery life.
Firmware and software update
Regularly visit the manufacturer's official website to update the UPS firmware and management software (such as APC PowerChute, Santak WinPower).
Key points
Deep discharge is prohibited : Lead-acid batteries must be fully charged within 24 hours after discharge to avoid irreversible damage.
Long-term storage : Disconnect the load and charge once every 3 months to keep the battery active.
Professional maintenance : Entrust the manufacturer or certification agency to conduct whole machine inspection (including capacitor and inverter aging analysis) every year.
